How to Make a Brochure on Google Docs?

Brochures have always served as an ideal marketing tool for many businesses since their introduction. Earlier, brochures were consist of hard copies in form of magazine or book, however, now they are made up digitally on software such as Google Docs. If you are looking to make a brochure for your business or a newly launched product, you can do so easily using Google Docs. Guide to Make a Brochure on Google Docs

USING A TEMPLATE

1.) Go to the Google Docs page on your web browser and sign in to your Google account (if you are not already).

2.) Once you are logged into Google Docs, click on the TEMPLATE GALLERY option located on the top-right side of the page. In case, you don’t see templates at the top of the window, you will need to click on the Menu bar icon (three horizontal lines) located in the upper left corner. Click on the Settings option and select the checkbox next to Display recent templates on home screens.

3.) Next, scroll down to get to the Work section and select a brochure template under which you “Brochure” written.

4.) Now, to replace the text, you will need to highlight the text and enter the content you wish to add in it. Similarly, to replace an image, right-click on the image and select Replace image option from the drop-down menu. Then, click on the Upload from computer option, choose the image you wish to add and click on the Open option.

5.) If you wish to reformat the text, you can make use of the text formatting options available on the page. You can resize the characters, change color, make text bold etc.

6.) When you are done making the changes, you can save and exit from the Google Doc by first looking the phrase “All changes saved in Drive” appearing at the top of the page.

7.) If you wish to print a hard copy of the brochure, simply press CTRL + P keys on your keyboard.

MANUAL PROCESS TO CREATE BROCHURE IN GOOGLE DOCS

1.) Go to the Google Docs page and sign in to your Google account (if you are not logged in already).

2.) Once you are logged in, click on the “+” icon to open a blank page for creating a brochure manually. Now, start by giving the blank page a suitable title by clicking on the “Untitled Document’ textbox located in the top-left corner of the window.

3.) Next, click on the File option located on the upper-left side of the page. This will open a drop-down menu on the screen. From the drop-down menu, select Page setup option to open a dialog box for setting the paper size, page orientation, and margins.

4.) After you are done adjusting the page set up as per your requirement, click on the OK button. Then, click on the Insert button located at the top of the page. This will open a drop-down menu.

5.) From the drop-down menu, select Table option located near the bottom of the menu. This will open the menu on your screen.  Select the number of boxes you wish to use. For example, if you are creating a three-page brochure, highlight the third box from the left-hand side in the top row of the table pop-out menu.

6.) Resize the table by clicking and dragging the lowermost line to the bottom of the page and releasing it. Now, to add a second page, press CTRL + A or Command + A to select the table. Then, press CTRL + C or Command + C to copy the table. Next, click below the table and press Enter until you a second page appearing on the screen. Click on the second page and press CTRL + V or Command + V to paste the copied content in the second table. This will help you keep the size on both the pages to be same.

NOTE: Use the first page as the cover for your brochure and second page for the text and images for your brochure.

7.) If you now wish to remove the black lines from the table, simply Right-click on a black line in the table and select Table properties option from the drop-down menu. Then, click on the black box located below the “Table border” heading and select the white box located on the upper0right corner of the drop-down menu. Finally, click on the OK button. The black lines will be cleared.

TO CREATE COVERS

1.) Go to the front cover panel and click close to the top of the front cover panel to place the text cursor there.

2.) Now, enter a headline or title for your brochure and make it bolder and more highlighted compared to the rest of the text in your brochure.

3.) Next, add a cover image by clicking on the Insert option in the toolbar. Then, select the image, click on the Upload from your computer option, and double-click on the image you wish to use.

4.) In case of a tri-fold brochure, you would want to wrap around the pictures, so click on the Wrap text option located at the bottom of any image you added for your brochure.

  • BREAK TEXT: Using this option, you can stop the text above and continue the image below. This is a useful option for a tri-fold brochure with small panels.
  • INLINE: This option pastes the image in the middle of the text.

5.) Considering the tri-fold brochure, the middle column on the first page will be the back cover of your brochure. Click on the back cover panel and add contact or follow-up information. If you wish to add an image, you can add it as suggested earlier.

TO CREATE THE INTERNAL PANELS

1.) Go to the second page and click on the first internal panel. Here, you can start adding the text and images you wish to include in the brochure. You can either type or paste the text you wish to include in the brochure.

2.) Make adjustments to the text as per your preference to make it more attractive to the reader. Add image in a suitable position by going to Insert > Image > Upload from your computer > double-click on the image you wish to use.

3.) Considering the tri-fold brochure, you will want wrap text around the images. So, click on the Wrap text option located at the bottom of any image you insert.

4.) After making the adjustment to the text and images, save the document and click File and then Print to print a soft copy of the brochure.
